I have had dark veins in my legs, especially my calves, since high school. I have always wanted to have something done, but I was afraid of the pain and it is not covered by my insurance. Several months ago, I received a letter about a reunion from a former college that I attended. I decided that the time was finally right for me to pursue this procedure. I asked my dermatologist for recommendation and he told me about the Veintec Varicose Vein Clinic in the Medical Center. I went for consultation, which surprisingly was covered by my health insurance. I met with Dr. LaBorde and the nurses and was assured that the pain would not be "too bad" and that the end results would be well worth it. Thus I began my treatment. Although I still have some spider veins that need to be treated, the big ugly ones are gone and it is amazing. I feel so much better when I wear shorts. Even my husband and son are glad I had the procedures. My self confidence boost has outweighed the investment. When I went to my reunion, I was so proud of my "new legs". I was rather disappointed when I got back home and realized that we had all talked so much, I don't think they even noticed! Ha! Ha! But I knew it and that made all the difference. Bette Fisher |
